Many people know our regular classes, courses and open training. But not everyone knows that you can also book private lessons at Gravity Arts.
Private lessons are one of the most individual ways to train, because for that time, the lesson is entirely yours.
What is a private lesson?
A private lesson can be booked for one person, but also for two or up to three people who would like to train together. The lesson can take place in the studio or online, depending on what you would like to work on.
The most important thing to know is this: A private lesson does not follow a fixed program. We adapt the lesson to your goals, your level and the things you want to work on.
Some students want to work on specific tricks that they struggle with. Some want to focus on flow, transitions or heels technique. Others want to prepare for a performance, a show or a competition. And sometimes, students simply want a quiet training space with full attention and time to ask questions and work at their own pace.
A private lesson can be all of that.
A space for your individual goals
In group classes, instructors have to balance different levels, different needs and the structure of the class. In a private lesson, everything can be adapted to you: the warm-up, the focus, the pace, the exercises and the feedback.
This makes private lessons especially helpful if you feel stuck with something, if you want to progress faster, or if you want to focus on a very specific topic for a while.
Many students book a private lesson from time to time when they want to refine technique, work on transitions, improve flow, build strength for specific tricks, or prepare a performance piece.
About choreography and preparation time
There is one important point that we would like to explain clearly, because this sometimes leads to misunderstandings.
When you book a private lesson, the time you book is the teaching time with the instructor. Preparation time outside of the lesson is not included in this time.
If you would like an instructor to prepare something in advance — for example a choreography, a combo, or ideas for a choreography based on a song — this preparation time is charged separately.
To give you an idea:
Preparing one minute of choreography usually takes about one hour of preparation time, which corresponds to the price of one private lesson.
This means for example:
- An instructor prepares a choreography → preparation time is charged
- Then you book a private lesson → you learn and work on the choreography together
Another option, especially for competition preparation, is to create the choreography together during the private lesson. In that case, there is no additional preparation time, because everything is created during the lesson itself. But remember, creativity can’t be timed – if you need a full minute of choreo, it’s better to let the instructor do it whenever they feel inspired.
If you are unsure what makes most sense for your situation, we are always happy to discuss the options with you.
How booking works
When you purchase a private lesson, you can then send us an email with:
- two or three possible dates and times
- what you would like to work on
- if you have a preferred instructor
We will then get back to you and arrange the lesson and the details together.
A different way of training
Private lessons are not something you have to do regularly. For many students, they are simply an additional option alongside classes and open training.
Some students take a private lesson once in a while when they feel stuck or when they want to focus on something specific. Others use private lessons to prepare performances or competitions. Others simply enjoy having a training session that is fully tailored to them.
There is no right or wrong way to structure your training.
Everyone’s pole journey looks different.
If you would like to learn more about different training options and how to structure your training, you can also have a look at our Training & Progression section on the blog.
And if you feel that a private lesson could support you on your pole journey, we would be very happy to work with you.
