At Gravity Arts, we take pride in being more than just a studio – we’re a community. A place where individuals from all backgrounds, ages, fitness levels, and gender identities come together to share a passion for pole dancing. Inclusivity and mutual support have always been at the heart of what we do, and we are committed to ensuring that every student feels welcomed and respected in our space.
A Gentle Reminder of Our Values
We believe in a community where everyone lifts each other up, and where no one feels left out or unwelcome. We want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a few key values that guide us:
1. Support Over Competition
We understand that everyone has personal goals and ambitions, but it’s essential to remember that we grow stronger together. Pole dancing is a journey, and it’s important to encourage and support each other along the way. If someone misses a class or needs more time to practice a certain trick, that’s perfectly okay. Everyone progresses at their own pace, and our collective progress is more important than individual competition.
Our instructors are highly trained and fully equipped to handle the differences in abilities that each student may bring. It’s part of their role to ensure that everyone feels both safe and appropriately challenged. If at any point you feel like you need extra support, a clearer explanation, or even a bigger challenge, please don’t hesitate to talk to your instructor. The more our instructors know, the better they can tailor the experience to suit your individual needs and ensure that you’re getting the most out of your time at Gravity Arts.
2. My Pole is your Pole & Your Pole is my Pole
At Gravity Arts, poles don’t belong to individuals – everyone is free to use any pole. Swapping partners and poles is a great way to build connections, share knowledge, and keep our environment collaborative. We understand that some poles or spots might be more convenient when it comes to filming your practice. If that’s the case, we encourage you to speak with your fellow students, explain your needs, and find a way to alternate when it’s time to record. Communication is key, and we believe this approach can ensure everyone gets what they need without anyone feeling left out.
We also love seeing friends attend lessons together! However, it’s important that this doesn’t result in creating small, exclusive bubbles. While it’s wonderful to have your friends by your side, it’s equally important to stay open and connected to the rest of the class. In our lessons, we’re one community, and everyone should feel included.
Lastly, while we know it’s tempting to catch up on the latest news with friends, the focus during class should be on pole. We suggest saving the chatting for after class at the BaFi or meeting up before the lesson 😉
3. Embrace Our Differences
Each one of us is unique in our own way. We have different strengths, abilities, and ways of expressing ourselves through pole dance, and that’s something to celebrate. Differences should bring us together, not push us apart. By supporting each other, regardless of where we are in our journey, we create a space where everyone can thrive.
This also includes our bodies and attire. We all have a unique body that’s worth celebrating, along with our individual styles. While some prefer to keep it sporty, others embrace the freedom to explore their sensuality during class, which may be reflected in their choice of pole clothing. At Gravity Arts, we welcome all styles, but we also encourage thoughtfulness. The goal should always be to fully embrace your own freedom without overstepping anyone’s boundaries.
We believe that the freedom of variety brings added value to our community. Experiencing and getting in touch with different styles keeps our horizons open, allowing us to learn from each other and grow together. Diversity in movement, expression, and attire enriches our collective experience and helps us stay connected to a broader range of possibilities.
One Community, One Goal
At the end of the day, we are one community. Our shared love for pole dance should unite us and foster an atmosphere of respect and positivity. It’s crucial to remember that how we treat each other in the studio has a direct impact on the experiences of those around us. Let’s continue to ensure that Gravity Arts remains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all.
We encourage everyone to reflect on these values and be mindful of how we can contribute to a positive and supportive environment. Together, we can create a place where every student feels empowered and valued – let’s keep our community strong!
